Mrs. Mainga D. Kabika, Permanent Secretary of the Gender Division, handed over two sewing machines to two beneficiaries of the Women Economic Empowerment program in Lusaka. This was done to demonstrate the commencement of the distribution exercise of the empowerment equipment and materials that the Gender Division has procured for eligible women-led cooperatives across the country.
The two recipients Chipo Mwemba, (person with disability and Racheal Nkosi, Gender Based Violence (GBV), survivor expressed gratitude to the Government for coming up with such an innovation that is aimed at empowering vulnerable women economically. The women economic empowerment program supports women in cooperatives or groups with productivity and value addition equipment for poverty reduction and livelihood improvement.
